  • Mississippi Baptist Seminary & Bible College has long had as its objective the training of persons to serve the church without regard to past academic attainment. To this end, several non-degree programs of in­struction, focusing on the praxis of ministry, are available for those inter­ested in or who qualify for the pastoral ministry but opt not to pursue a degree on the associate, baccalaureate, or master’s levels. All courses will be applicable toward advanced degrees.

    CERTIFICATE IN BIBLICAL STUDIES

    All students enrolled in the Certificate in Biblical Studies are required to take six (6) courses in Bible studies for a total of 18.0 hours. Credits earned in this certificate course are transferable to higher degree programs.

    CERTIFICATE IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

    All students enrolled in the Certificate in Christian Education are required to take six (6) courses in Christian Education for a total of 18.0 credit hours. Credits earned in this certificate course are transferable to higher degree programs.

  • ASSOCIATE OF GENERAL STUDIES

    The Associate of Arts in General Studies at Mississippi Baptist Seminary provides students with a well-rounded, Christ-centered foundation in academic and biblical education. This two-year program is ideal for those beginning their higher education journey or seeking to strengthen their knowledge in core subjects such as English, math, social sciences, and Christian studies. Designed to cultivate critical thinking, communication skills, and spiritual growth, the program prepares students for continued study at the bachelor’s level or for effective service in church and community settings. With flexible course options and supportive faculty, this degree offers both academic preparation and spiritual formation.

    ASSOCIATE OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

    The Associate of Religious Education Degree is a two-year undergraduate degree designed for students who desire competency in Christian education without the requirements of a four-year program of study. To be admitted to study, students must request their high school to send an official six or seven-semester transcript, which lists all high school course work, the date of graduation, grade point average, and class rank, provide proof of immunization for measles, mumps, and rubella, and must have taken the ACT examination with a minimum score of 16. Students must have the required High School Course Requirements prior to admittance. Applicants who do not graduate from high school must submit qualifying scores on a state-approved high school equivalency examination, transcript which denotes academic performance. The Seminary recognizes General Education Development (GED Testing Service). This degree is designed for students who desire competency in Christian education without the requirements of a four-year program of study.

    BACHELOR OF RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

    The Bachelor of Religious Education degree is a four-year undergraduate degree, which is terminal in nature and is designed to satisfy the prerequisite for graduate-level work. Its focus is the training of Christian educators. To be admitted to study, students must request their high school to send an official six or seven-semester transcript, which lists all high school course work, the date of graduation, grade point average, and class rank, provide proof of immunization for measles, mumps and rubella, and must have taken the ACT examination with a minimum score of 16.   • MASTER OF ARTS IN CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

    This program seeks to develop a wide range of skills for providing leadership in the educational ministry of the church. This program emphasizes the integration of biblical, theological, and historical studies with educational foundations, together with the acquisition of skills in teaching and leadership.

    MASTER OF DIVINITY

    The student who holds a baccalaureate degree from an approved institution receives the degree of Master of Divinity (M.Div.) on the completion of the prescribed program of study. The curriculum is designed to offer training for the pastoral or professional ministry. Concentrated study in three basic areas – Bible, theology, and practical theology – characterizes the four to five-year program. Bible courses include the basic structure and content of each book of the Bible along with such details concerning major characters, dates, and places as are necessary. Principles of hermeneutics and exegesis, using the original languages as well as the English Bible, are also included. Students learn to apply Scripture to contemporary circumstances. The purpose of this study is to provide the theological and historical foundations necessary to understand the nature of the Christian faith and life. The practical theology courses are designed to enable students to develop competency in ministry. Students are expected to attain the required levels of competency in order to accomplish the goal of each course. A variety of experiences and instructors enable students to develop methods and styles of ministry sited to their individual gifts. The degree is designed for men who have been called to the Gospel Ministry.
